“Visit Korean Heritage Campaign” coming to Los Angeles, USA

Campaign set to Host the “Korean Royal Desserts at Kohojae” Program

in Collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles

Program runs from August 16 (Wed) to August 18 (Fri) / Online pre-registration begins on August 1 (Tue)

The 2023 “Visit Korean Heritage Campaign” (hereinafter the “Campaign”) co-hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration (Administrator: Choi Eung-chon) and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation (President: Choi Young-chang) is launching a new program to promote Korean culture and heritage in the United States with some much-needed assistance from the Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles (hereinafter the “LA Korean Cultural Center”). The three-day program is held from August 16 to August 18 in Ari Hall (3F) of the LA Korean Cultural Center.

Among the available programs, the “Korean Royal Desserts at Kohojae” program will give visitors a chance to enjoy Korean traditional “Jeongjae” performances - a type of royal court performance from the Joseon Dynasty period - and try Korean royal desserts and herbal tea. The program features flower tea and six different types of “Byeonggwa” and “Jeonggwa” desserts, which were often served to the royal family of Joseon. It will also showcase the beautiful culture of Korea, including traditional art performances such as the “Chunnaengjeon” and Gayageum performances. Ari Hall in the LA Korean Cultural Center, which is hosting the program, will be decorated like a Korean palace to enable visitors immerse themselves in traditional Korean culture.

A special feature of the program is that all visitors get an opportunity to taste royal court desserts and herbal tea from “Kohojae,” a premium brand owned by the “Korea House.” Korea House is a cultural venue where people can understand and experience the beauty of Korean culture, history, and heritage, including its royal court cuisine, traditional Korean cuisine, traditional art performances, and traditional wedding ceremonies. “Kohojae,” meaning “home for those who like old things,” is a premium Korean royal confectionery brand owned by the Korea House. This program, offering chances to enjoy extraordinary Korean royal confectionery and performances, will be available four times a day for up to 30 guests per session (a total of twelve sessions in three days). If you would like to participate in the program, please visit the LA Korean Culture Center’s website. Pre-registration opens on August 1 via the website.
